How to pay your rent and charges
You can pay your rent, insurance, garage rent and supported services directly from your bank account via Direct Debit. To set this up, call us on 0808 100 9596 or print a Direct Debit Form.
Over the phone
You can use your credit or debit card to pay your rent over the phone using our automated service. You will need your payment reference number. Call 0844 557 8321.
You can set up a standing order online if you are registered for internet banking. These are the details you need -

Use your swipe card at any post office, shop or garage displaying the PayPoint sign.
Visit Allpay website to pay your rent online. Make sure you quote your payment account reference number so we can identify your payment.
Register for the pay by text service
Make any cheques payable to Magenta Living. Make sure you write your full name and address on the back of the cheque so we can identify your payment. Post-dated cheques will not be accepted.
Problems paying your rent?
It is very important to Magenta Living that tenants pay their rent in full and on time. If you miss a payment you should contact us as soon as possible to agree with your income officer how you will clear your account. If you fail to clear the debt or fail to engage with us about doing so then we will arrange for a court hearing to seek possession of your home. If a hearing takes place it is likely that you will incur £325 court costs and ultimately the court could order that you vacate your home.
It is the tenant’s responsibility to ensure they secure the benefits they are entitled to. Delays in making a claim or responding to requests the local council or DWP for supporting information can result in the loss of benefit. If you would like help in claiming benefits or appealing a decision to deny you benefit then you should contact your income officer who can refer you to our financial inclusion team.
Your income officer can also arrange for the financial inclusion team to assist you if you are struggling to budget and manage your money. To speak with your income officer call our contact centre on 0808100 9596.
Ending your tenancy
Tenants are required to give 4 weeks’ notice during which time rent is due. Housing Benefit and the housing element of Universal Credit will only be paid to one property (unless you can secure overlapping Housing Benefit) so if you move into a new tenancy before you’re 4 week notice period with Magenta Living ends then you will continue to owe us rent.
If you fail to hand in the keys to your tenancy at the end of the 4 week notice period you will continue to be liable for the rent. Magenta Living continues to pursue former tenants for outstanding debts and any former tenancy debts will prevent you being housed by Magenta Living and many other housing associations.
