At Magenta Living, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. By listening to their views and involving them in our work, we gain a better understanding of what matters most, see the impact our services and projects are having, and make more informed decisions that benefit local communities

Members of our Magenta Customer and Communities Committee (MCCC) recently took part in their latest development day, learning more about key projects including new energy efficient homes and how we’re using technology and AI to improve services for customers.

MCCC members joined Magenta colleagues at Sandbank Point in West Kirby, where we’re working with local developer Starship to build 14 new homes using modern methods of construction. The homes will be carbon zero, have an EPC A rating and be low cost to run for new customers. Some will also be available for social rent, a first for West Kirby in over 10 years.

The image shows brick-clad external walls, window openings and prefabricated structural panels being assembled on site, with scaffolding visible alongside the buildings. The development will provide 14 carbon zero homes built using modern methods of construction.

The group also visited Starship’s local factory in Birkenhead to see how the homes are manufactured before being brought to site and assembled. This approach reduces build time, minimises disruption for the local community and supports the delivery of high-quality, sustainable homes.

Sean Yewdale, Chair of MCCC and Magenta Board Director said:

"MCCC members always look forward to our development days and this one was exceptional.

Visiting both Sandbank Point and Starship was a great opportunity to see how the sectional panels are put together and see how quickly a house rises from the foundations. Seeing a full wall with a hand-finished brick facia was an awesome sight.

Being constructed in a factory ensures that an exceedingly high standard is maintained at every stage of the process and it shows that modern methods of construction has a major role to play in future house building.

It was good to hear feedback from site neighbours and the local community that the new houses are a welcome addition and that the construction methods being used are not overly intrusive. We’re all looking forward to a return visit to Sandbank Point when the homes are completed and hopefully to meet some of the new residents."

For the final part of the day, members heard how Magenta are using systems and AI to help colleagues provide a better, more joined-up service for customers. This included how technology can support more efficient ways of working, giving colleagues more time to focus on the things that matter most to customers.

Alison Jenkins, MCCC member, said:

“The day wrapped up with an AI presentation, which was delivered with such enthusiasm, knowledge, passion and vision.

This was incredibly interesting and very informative. It highlighted how important and valuable it is for an organisation to be forward-thinking and connect with the right partners, as it can really lead to positive outcomes, benefitsand results. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this fantastic day.”

Steve Nichol, Chief Customer Officer at Magenta Living said:

“Our MCCC Development Days are an important part of how we listen, learn and improve with customers. They give members the opportunity to see first-hand the work we’re doing, ask questions and build their knowledge so they can continue to provide valuable insight and challenge.

Involving customers in what we do helps us make better decisions, improve our services and stay focused on what matters most to the people and communities we’re here to support. Their voice plays an important role in shaping the future of Magenta Living.”
