Tenancy fraud happens when a home is not used in the way it should be. This can include things like unlawful subletting, giving false information to get a tenancy, not living in the property as a main home, or misusing Right to Buy or benefits.
We take tenancy fraud seriously and take a balanced approach. We work hard to prevent fraud through checks before a tenancy starts, regular tenancy inspections and clear reporting routes. Where concerns are raised, we carry out proportionate investigations and take appropriate action when fraud is proven. We may also work with other agencies if needed.
