Gas Safety Week 2026: Take no chances with gas safety
Magenta Living and Sureserve are working together to help customers feel prepared, reassured and informed during Gas Safety Week, 14–20 September 2026.
Every year, Magenta Living arranges gas safety checks for homes with gas appliances. These checks are an important part of keeping you, your household and your neighbours safe. They are also a legal requirement for landlords, and must be carried out by a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer.
Why your annual gas safety check matters
Gas appliances that are not working properly can create serious risks, including carbon monoxide leaks, fires and explosions. An annual check helps make sure appliances, flues and pipework are safe and working as they should.
Magenta Living is responsible for arranging these checks in homes where they are required. Sureserve engineers are authorised to complete them on Magenta Living’s behalf, so if you receive an appointment from Sureserve, it is a genuine part of our gas safety programme.
Take no chances with Gas Safety
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a dangerous gas that cannot be seen, smelt or tasted. Because it's so difficult to detect, it's important to recognise the warning signs. Look out for a gas flame that is yellow or orange rather than blue, sooty marks around gas appliances, increased condensation on windows, or a boiler pilot light that keeps going out.
Carbon monoxide poisoning can cause headaches, dizziness, nausea and breathlessness. If you feel better when you leave your home, CO could be the cause. If you suspect a carbon monoxide leak, leave your home and get fresh air immediately, turn off gas appliances if safe to do so, and call the National Gas Emergency Number on 0800 111 999.

Your annual gas safety check is designed to protect you and your household. By working with Sureserve, Magenta Living can make sure checks are completed by authorised engineers and that tenants know what to expect.
If you receive an appointment for your gas safety check, please allow access or contact Magenta Living as soon as possible if you need to rearrange.

Please keep your appointment where possible, or let us know as soon as you can if you need to rearrange.
Make sure the engineer can safely access your boiler, meter and gas appliances.
Ask to see identification if you are unsure who is at your door. If you’re still unsure, check by calling 0151 728 5700
Tell the engineer if you have noticed any concerns, such as unusual smells, warning lights, or appliances not working properly.
Gas Safety Week Community Drop-in
As part of our community walkabouts in Woodchurch on Monday 14 September we’ll be running a community drop-in session with Sureserve at Hoole Road Hub. This session is a chance to learn more about gas safety and ask any questions you may have.
