Magenta Living has been awarded the highest possible consumer grading by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH), while also maintaining its G1 governance and V2 financial viability gradings. The result recognises Magenta Living’s commitment to delivering safe homes, quality services and meaningful customer involvement across Wirral and the Liverpool City Region.

Following a recent inspection, Magenta Living received:

  • C1 – Consumer Standards

  • G1 – Governance

  • V2 – Financial Viability

The result marks the first time Magenta Living has been inspected against the regulator's new Consumer Standards, which place greater emphasis on the experience of customers, including the safety and quality of homes, service delivery, customer engagement and accountability.

The C1 grading confirms that Magenta Living is delivering the outcomes expected by the regulator for customers.

While achieving C1 is something to be proud of, Magenta Living recognises that it is also the standard customers should expect from us as their landlord. The organisation remains committed to listening, learning and continuously improving the services it provides.

Putting customers at the heart of every decision

The judgement reflects Magenta Living's long-standing commitment to ensuring customers influence how services are designed, delivered and improved.

Customer voice is embedded throughout the organisation. Customers are represented at Board level, help scrutinise performance through the Magenta Customer and Communities Committee, and are directly involved in shaping key decisions, including the procurement of services and suppliers.

Recent improvements have also made it easier for customers to access services, including the launch of a new website and customer portal, giving greater control over reporting repairs, managing appointments and accessing information online.

This customer-first approach sits alongside significant investment in homes and neighbourhoods across the region.

Through its Road to 2030 strategy, Magenta Living is committed to delivering 1,300 new homes by 2030 and investing £166 million in existing homes, helping ensure customers have access to safe, secure and sustainable homes for years to come.

The organisation has also secured additional funding to support energy-efficiency improvements, helping customers benefit from warmer homes, reduced energy consumption and lower household costs.

Strengthening communities across Wirral and the Liverpool City Region

As the largest housing provider in Wirral, housing around one in ten local residents, Magenta Living plays a significant role in supporting communities across the borough while continuing to grow its impact across the wider Liverpool City Region.

The judgement also continues a positive trend across housing associations in the Liverpool City Region, where organisations have demonstrated a strong collective commitment to meeting the new Consumer Standards and placing customers at the centre of decision-making.

For customers, partners and stakeholders, the grading provides independent assurance that Magenta Living is delivering high-quality services today while maintaining the capacity and ambition to invest in homes and communities for the future. The V2 financial viability grading reflects the significant investment we're making in existing homes, new affordable homes and building safety, while ensuring we retain the financial strength needed to deliver for customers over the long term.

Andy Lomas, Chief Executive of Magenta Living, said:

"We're genuinely pleased to have achieved a C1 grading, particularly as this was our first inspection against the new Consumer Standards.

Most importantly, this judgement reflects the commitment our colleagues show every day to delivering for customers. Whether that's keeping homes safe, investing in communities, listening to feedback or improving services, customers are at the heart of what we do.

While we're proud of this achievement, we also recognise that C1 is the standard customers should expect from us. We'll continue to listen, learn and improve as we deliver our Road to 2030 ambitions and work to create even better outcomes for the people and communities we serve."

Ged Lucas, Chair of Magenta Living Board, said:

"This is a strong result and one that everyone connected with Magenta Living should be proud of.

I'd like to thank colleagues, customers and partners for the part they've played in helping us reach this point. The judgement recognises the progress we've made and our commitment to doing the right thing for customers, but we know there is always more to do. Our focus now is on building on this result and continuing to improve."

Sean Yewdale, Board Member, customer and Chair of the Magenta Customer and Communities Committee, said:

"As a customer, I'm particularly pleased to see the importance of customer voice reflected in this judgement.

Customers help shape decisions at Magenta and challenge the organisation to do better. That's only possible because colleagues genuinely listen, act on feedback and are committed to continuous improvement.

This result is something we can all be proud of, but it's also an opportunity to keep raising the bar and making sure customers continue to receive the services they deserve."
