Magenta Living is responsible for keeping all lifts and lifting equipment safe. This includes:

  • Communal lifts in shared buildings

  • Lifts inside homes

  • Stair lifts

  • Hoists

We check and service this equipment regularly to make sure it is safe to use and to help prevent breakdowns.

If you have a through‑floor lift, stair lift or hoist in your home, you must let us in to service and inspect it. This is part of your tenancy agreement and helps keep you, your family and carers safe.

Our Responsibilities

We must inspect, maintain and repair all lifts and hoist equipment so that it works properly.

Commercial lifts (in our buildings):

  • Inspected every six months

  • Extra checks done every 1–3 months, depending on instructions from the manufacturer

  • Staff in high‑rise buildings also check lifts every day

Domestic lifts and hoists (in customers’ homes):

  •  Inspected once a year

  • We are legally required to maintain this equipment until it cannot be repaired anymore

  • Contact us to arrange repairs and removal of equipment

How to keep yourself and others safe when using lifts

  • Press the lift call button once

  • Never block the lift doors with your hands, body, or any items

  • Use the “Door Open” button if you need to keep the doors open

  • Stand clear of the doors

  • Keep items away from the door opening

  • Hold onto the handrail if the lift has one

  • Never exceed the lift’s maximum weight limit, or it may break down
