An Exciting Chapter for Bidston Rise: Penguin Little Book Stop Arrives

Bidston Rise Community House is now home to one of Penguin Books' Little Book Stops, a nationwide initiative bringing the joy of reading to communities across the UK. Our Book Stop is one of just 90 installed nationally, and it's already sparking excitement locally.

To celebrate the launch, we invited Year Six pupils from Holy Cross School to join us for a special event. Their enthusiasm set the tone for what we hope will become a vibrant hub for readers of all ages.

The concept is simple yet powerful: borrow a book, enjoy it, and return it for someone else to discover. Whether you're a regular reader or just starting your journey, the Little Book Stop is here to make books accessible to everyone in our community.

Adam Woodcock, Senior Community Regeneration Officer applied for the Little Book Stop on behalf of the community:

"Books can transport you to another world and provide a great chance to switch off and unplug us from the digital environment."

"The Little Book Stop will be used by different groups of people in the community. We hope to engage people using our community building and to encourage more people who may not be regular readers to take reading up."

Located outside the Bidston Rise Community Centre, run by our partners at CORE Project, the Book Stop is perfectly placed to encourage engagement. Conversations have already begun about forming a local reading group, and we're excited to see more residents making use of this fantastic resource in the months ahead.
