Magenta Living former apprentice wins Women in Safety and Compliance Award
Lisa Hilton, Electrical Team Manager at Magenta Living, has won the prestigious ‘Women in Safety and Compliance’ award at the ASCP (Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals) 2022 Awards.
These Awards recognise the achievements of the inspirational individuals and organisations working within social housing and facilities management sectors.
Former apprentice Lisa, understands the value of women in male-dominated industries and has taken up an ambassadorial role on behalf of Magenta Living, attending many senior schools in Wirral to promote careers in the construction industry and has delivered motivational speeches to encourage students to pursue their goals and not to be afraid of roles in a non-traditional sector.
Lisa started her career at Magenta Living after completing her apprenticeship in Electrical Installation in 2015 and has progressed within the organisation to become a Team Manager, managing a team of 13, including 11 Building Services Technicians, one Technical Supervisor and one apprentice, all of whom are male.
Lisa said: “Women are a valuable resource in construction and can offer different ideas and perspectives when finding solutions. However, the lack of female representation within the industry means that these career choices can often be overlooked.
“There is so much more to a career in construction than meets the eye and that is why I am committed to encouraging and supporting females to take up apprenticeships and careers within this industry.
“I am so proud of my career journey, from starting as a complete novice and being the only female apprentice at Magenta Living at the time, to now managing a team of 13, and to be recognised at the ASCP Awards is amazing. I was so surprised when I found out I had been shortlisted as I had no idea that my colleagues had nominated me!”

Magenta Living also won the ASCP ‘Sustainability Project of the Year’ award for their commitment towards sustainability and their 30-year, three-stage Climate Change Strategic Framework, guiding them to achieve their target of becoming net zero by 2050.
