Magenta Living MCCC Members Attend Parliamentary Reception

Last week, Magenta Living's MCCC members had the privilege of attending the Annual Parliamentary Reception hosted by Communities that Work in the Terrace Pavilion of the House of Commons. This event was a powerful gathering, bringing together key figures and stakeholders dedicated to supporting communities through employment and social housing.
We were honoured to hear from Minister for Employment Alison McGovern, who delivered an inspiring keynote address. Her reflections on the future of employment, inclusive growth, and the critical role of social housing in supporting communities were both timely and thought-provoking. Joining her were Debbie Abrahams MP, Chair of the Work and Pensions Select Committee, and Jennifer Riddell-Carpenter MP, who also shared valuable insights on these important topics.
The reception provided a brilliant opportunity for Magenta Living MCCC members to connect with parliamentarians and partners across housing, employment, and skills sectors. These connections are vital as we work together to support customers in securing meaningful and sustainable employment.
The event underscored the strong link between secure housing and long-lasting employment. Magenta Living is proud to be part of this mission, advocating for policies and initiatives that help residents achieve stability and success in their careers.
Reactions from MCCC representatives:
Adam Costello says, 'The reception at the HoC was an absolutely amazing experience, from being waved through the gates by the armed police in our taxi in front of all those tourists and sightseers and then entering The Mother of All Parliaments; walking through, you could literally feel the weight of all that history'.
Heather Jiagge says, 'Attendance at both: The Houses of Parliament - Jobs Plus Reception and the Tenants/Residents Engagement Conference; were informative and fascinating.'
Dawn Edwards says, 'I just wanted to say a Huge Thank You for allowing me to attend and represent Magenta MCCC, both at the TREC 25 Conference and the Reception at the Houses of Parliament for Communities That Work. The Houses of Parliament Reception was truly an experience I will never forget.'
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the reception and continues to champion the connection between secure housing and employment. Your support and dedication are crucial in driving positive change for our communities.
