New Extra Care Scheme ‘Hartley Place’ officially opens

Magenta Living’s state of the art, Ellesmere Port development, Hartley Place Extra Care Scheme was officially opened by the Mayor of Ellesmere Port, Councillor Nicole Meardon on Wednesday 22nd November 2017.

Hartley Place is a multi-million pound Extra Care facility aimed at the over 55’s which offers 60 one and two bedroom apartments as well as 15 bungalows all with a level-access wet room, lounge and kitchen. Extra Care allows independent living with 24 hour on-site support services and flexible care packages are available from care provider, Mears.

Residents can benefit from communal facilities including The Lemon Tree Restaurant, hairdressers and a beauty salon, which are all open to the public, and a lounge area as well as a full programme of activities and events. There is also a beautiful garden space which will encourage residents to get involved in planting and gardening and to enjoy the outside space.

Mayor of Ellesmere Port, Cllr Nicole Meardon said: “It was a privilege to formally open Hartley Place. It provides fantastic homes for some of our elderly and more vulnerable residents, in the heart of our community.”

During the event, flowers were presented to Mrs Margaret Fleming who was the first resident to apply to live in Hartley Place back in July 2016. She said: “I was delighted to receive the flowers. I moved in on 17th October and moving here was the best thing I’ve ever done, it feels like I’m living in a 5 star hotel.”

The opening ceremony was well attended with guests from Cheshire West and Chester Council including the Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Angela Claydon, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) along with board members and staff from Magenta Living.

Brian Simpson, Chief Executive of Magenta Living said: “I am extremely proud that Magenta Living is continuing to invest in Ellesmere Port. We are committed to building homes for vulnerable people and providing spaces and facilities that benefit the existing community.

“Magenta Living has ambitious growth plans over the next few years so while Hartley Place is finished as a construction project, many more projects will be coming on site in the next few months and years.”
