Magenta Living celebrates completion of Woodnoth Grange

Aerial view of Woodnoth Grange Development Magenta Living has officially celebrated the completion of its newest development in Shavington, Cheshire.

Woodnoth Grange is a fantastic development of 45 homes located in the charming Cheshire village of Shavington.  Work started on the £7.9 million development in December 2021.

As a rural location, Shavington had an acute need for affordable housing and, as Magenta Living had recently expanded into Cheshire East, this project offered an unmissable opportunity to develop much needed affordable housing in a great setting.

Woodnoth Grange offers a range of tenures and property types.  There are 22 affordable rent homes (mix of 1 bed flats, 2 bed bungalows and 2, 3 and 4 bed houses) and 23 shared ownership homes (a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bed houses).  It aims to add more than just additional affordable housing, it aspires to create a sustainable community, blurring the boundaries between the new homes and the existing community.

All the dwellings have been constructed to deliver a high standard of energy efficiency with each of the units having an Electronic Vehicle charging point installed.

Magenta Living’s Executive Director of Assets and Development, Ian Thomson, said:

“I’m delighted to be here today to celebrate the completion of this impressive and much-needed development.  The lack of affordable housing in rural areas of England is a recognised issue in the sector.  Woodnoth Grange directly tackles this issue.  We are proud to have created an affordable and sustainable community within a rural setting, providing quality housing for those who could otherwise not afford to live in Shavington.

“From initial pre-conception stage, the ambition shared by Magenta Living and all partner organisations we worked with – namely MCI Developments and Wilkinson Cowan Building Consultants - was to create a truly affordable housing development delivering community cohesion.”

Feedback from people who have recently moved in has been very favourable.  One resident said:

"Choosing to purchase a property on Woodnoth Grange, Shavington, through Magenta Living is one of the best decisions we have ever made. It has enabled us to make changes that have significantly improved our lives.

“We were supported throughout the entire purchase by the lovely Claire Henning, who went above and beyond and made the process as stress free as possible.

“We absolutely love our new home and its rural location. The design of the development is very well thought out promoting a community feel for its residents. Woodnoth Grange is a little piece of heaven in the Cheshire countryside!"

The play space area at Woodnoth Grange was designed to stimulate community growth whilst providing a high-quality yet valued investment for the wider residential amenity. The focal position of the play area is central to the ‘liveable’ feature of the development, allowing an informal outlook and safeguard for the community.

Magenta Living has ambitious plans to build over 1,000 homes over the coming years with plans to build high quality, affordable homes across the North West of England including Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire.
